Mrs. Pond began teaching Dance at Ladysmith Secondary School in 2009. She is excited to work with the enthusiastic and dedicated Dance students of LSS. During her time at Ladysmith Secondary, she hopes to continue the expansion and development of the Dance program with her youthful energy.

Since she can remember, Mrs. Pond has had a passion for dance. Currently, Mrs. Pond is an active member in the Parksville and Nanaimo Dance community. When she isn’t teaching dance she can usually be found enjoying dance classes at Vibe Dance Studio and Parksville Ballet School

Mrs. Pond has facilitated the LSS Dancers through their participation in the Improv Shows, January 2010 Dance Showcase, and the upcoming June 2010 Dance Showcase.

During the past year, Mrs. Pond has developed a deep affection for the students, faculty, and community atmosphere at Ladysmith Secondary School and looks forward to being part of this tradition in the future.

Mr. Taylor has been teaching Theatre at LSS since 1997 (or so). He is proud of the diverse and rich Theatre program of which he is a part. Work undertaken and presented includes: Playbuilt pieces, Student directed pieces, Musical Theatre (including 'Annie', 'Joseph', 'Little Shop of Horrors', 'The Pirates of Penzance', 'Jesus Christ Superstar', and the 'Wizard of Oz'), Shakespeare ('A Midsummer Night's Dream', 'Romeo and Juliet') and modern pieces (including 'The Clumsy Custard Horror Show', 'The Perils of Lulu', '7 Stories', 'The Serpent', and 'Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You'). He is also proud of the fusion of Drama/Dance/and Music epitomized by the recent collaborative presentation of 'Beowulf' and 'Tivoly'.

Mr. Taylor has received awards at the A.B.C.D.E. North Island Regional Drama Festival (including awards for Direction, Lighting Design, Set Design, Props, Sound Design etc) and awards from Theatre BC (including Special Recognition for Leadership in the Dramatic Arts, Lighting Design, and Set Design).

Mr. Taylor has guided the LSS Improv Team to Second Place in Canada at the Canadian Improv Games National Tournament, along with two other national appearances, and five Vancouver Island Cup top three finishes. The LSS improv program has now mounted its tenth year of its popular 'Improvable' variety show (which will number 60 shows in total). LSS improvisers have worked in the community with OPT (Options for healthy sexual decision making) to write and perform a play for a community forum, entertained at a number of community functions, and worked with the  Vancouver Island leadership initiative.

Mr. Taylor has also worked with local community theatre groups including Lady Smith's Little Theatre and the YellowPoint Drama Group.

To encourage students, parents, and teachers to communicate, Mr. Taylor also led the development and (ongoing) implementation of this website. Enjoy.
