Au Pair World
An Au Pair is a temporary member of your family. It's in most cases a young girl or boy willing to learn a foreign language and culture. In exchange for free board and room plus a small pocket money the au pair will care for your children and help a little with regular (light) housework. The term au pair is French. The English translation is 'on equal terms'. In early 1900 some English girls, mostly from London, lived a year or so in France (Paris) to acquire better French language skills. In 1920 to 1940 this idea became more and more popular throughout Western Europe. Being an au pair is a fascinating idea for a lot of young people and a lot of families do need childcare help, its meanwhile a global industry with close to 300.000 au pairs being hosted by families all over the world each year. Au pair World is designed to help you find a good au pair or a friendly host family. Basically, you can find au pairs and host families without an agency which is a lot cheaper! Au pair World is not an agency. It's suited for people who like to be active or take the initiative. Although we are not an agency we will do our utmost to help you find what you are looking for.
